THE LEGEND OF LANGKAWI
- Mahsuri
Mahsuri is the daughter of a Siamese Muslim immigrant. Mahsuri has been accused of incest by his own mother-in-law because his mother-in-law was jealous of the beauty and respect that Mahsuri possessed. As a result, Mahsuri was sentenced to death.
On the day of the execution, the sacred keris belonging to Mahsuri's own family was used to kill him. However, there is a strange thing that happens where the blood that comes out of Mahsuri's body is white and that proves that the accusation leveled at him is mere slander.
At the last moment of his death, Mahsuri had sworn that Langkawi would not be safe for seven generations. The truth of Mahsuri's oath was fulfilled when Langkawi was attacked by the Siamese army and all food and crop supplies were destroyed.
Among the legendary truths or the proof of the curse, Langkawi only began to thrive after seven generations were in trouble.
